March 8-2003
I just got back from Florence, South Carolina. It was my first guest posing of the season. I had such a great time. I was guest posing with Dave Palumbo. I wish I could tell you more about our routine—but, you are just going to have to come and see for yourself. My travel schedule for the upcoming 6 months is quite busy. I have always dreamed about touring the contiguous United States as a Female Bodybuilder. I have to say , Dave made it all possible. I am going to keep a running journal of my weekend ventures. You will be able to check in a see what is going on at all the different shows—through me.
Let’s start at the beginning.
We flew our of New York , Laguardia airport at 9 a.m. on March 6-2003 and had a lay over in Charlotte, S. Carolina. Then, we had to make a connecting flight to Florence, S. Carolina. But first—I forgot to mention that we had to check in toy guns for our posing routine. That—fortunately—did not cause much of a delay. Once we arrived into Florence, we were picked up at the airport by our friend’s brothers, Tom Snyder. He was great. He was all about showing us a great time. We checked in the Holiday Inn Express- which Dave and I had a Jacuzzi Suit. It was incredible.
The promoters of the show, Tami & Lee Tucker took great care of us. She is a beautiful female bodybuilder that has been overlooked, in my opinion. It just goes to show you that bodybuilding is so political--- the judges have to know your face. You have to pay your dues, that is for sure. She treated Dave and I like celebrities.
On Friday we all went to the gym – the only one in Florence ( Mclead Gym) . It was huge. This was no hard-core gym, this was a whole fitness facility .You could even get your nails done. I had a great workout with Tom , where he spotted me for shoulders. Then Dave and John Ripa ( the Rxmuscle photographer) joined us for triceps. We went out to dinner with all the promoters at a Italian Restaurant called Michael’s. We had quite the group—Tami, her husband, two NPC judges, another Female Bodybuilder Theresa , Dave and John.
We all went to sleep to have an early night so we could rest up for Saturday. The day started with Cardio and then we went to the gym. I trained hamstrings while the boys trained biceps. It was a quick but effective workout.
We then went to the school to practice our routine. John helped us with choreography and stage direction. We were ready.
We arrived at the show at 6:30 – to set up the booth. Both Dave and I sold a ton of pictures and made some great new friends. We were the last act and everything went flawless. It was a great performance. I have to remind you all—I just started my diet a week ago. So- I am still a big girl—weighing about 176#. I was the tightest I have ever been at this weight. So- that is a good sign.
Our performance was off the hook. Unfortunatly, Dave tore a groin muscle, but let’s hope this is not going to be a serious injury. HE is going to have to do some extensive physical therapy when he gets back to NYC. Let’ s hope he is okay when we go to Fargo N. Carolina.
So- to summarize, the weekend was a great success. It was a great time. If all the guest posing go as good as this one--- I am fired up. I want to say a special thanks to Don Bewick-- a true friend who drove 6 hours to be there to see me guest pose. I also want to thank him for the beaitiful gift. It was really above and beyond. Thank you again. I really appreciate my fan and friend support.
We left for the airport at 2 :00 p.m. and arrived in NYC at 6 p.m. This was a weekend to remember. I can’t wait to tell you about the Fargo, N. Dakota experience.
