Sept. 10- 2003
One day before the Sept. 11- 2001 tragedy. I still can't believe that I was right there--watching the whole thing unfold from my 16th Floor balcony. It was horrifying. I still remember trying to call my mother and tell her what was going on. I remember not being able to use my phone. I remember fear, terror, and disbelief. The world has not been the same since. New York is recovering--- but, the memories will never be forgotten. Every time I go downtown and pass the old World Trade Center Site---it brings an overwhelming sense of sadness. So many lives lost and people effected by the event. I wish the words Peace and Love could transcend the powers of the world and make them see people for people.
Although tomorrow brings much sadness to the world, we have to press on and move forward. We can't dwell on the past, rather we need to seek ways to make our future more bright and impact full. I am just shy of 9 1/2 weeks out from the National's. It is going to be a good show. I can feel it. All the girls competing have been saving themselves for this event. It is going to be a tough playing field. I am excited. I love to compete. I love the energy of the competition. I love being on stage. It is all fun. When it stops being fun-- that is when I stop competing. You know-- there is something about it. Female BB is never about the money. It is something much more personal. Everyone has a story. All the women on stage have suffered for 10-16 weeks prior to the show on a calorie restricted diet, trained 2-3 x /day, dealt with life struggles such as boyfriends, husbands, children, careers, and life tragedy. We all deserve a pro-card in my eyes. When I go to a weigh in--------I always think that I look the worst. I see all the competition and I am still amazed at all the bodies that appear to compete. They are incredible. I am always in Awe. I love Female Muscle. It is so beautiful. There is something about the flow of muscles on a female body. Truly art.
I am really enjoying my training. It feels good. I still have some issues with my left shoulder---but, that just keeps my upper body training in perspective.
All is good. Diet----that is the tough part. But--it gets easier every day.
